On Wednesday, July 18, 2018, a delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region, headed by Dr. Yousef Guran, Minister of Higher Education and his accompanying delegation consisting of the heads of universities of the region and officials of the ministry visited Baghdad and met with Dr. Abdul Razzaq A. Al – Issa-Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq. The meeting discussed a number of joint files including; expansion of scientific work, exchange programs of students, recognizing universities of Kurdistan, development of education, signing memorandums of understanding…etc.
The meeting also highlighted the outstanding issues and work on solving them, including the file of recognizing of universities. Al-Issa said during the meeting that the ministry will recognize the universities of the Kurdistan Region recognized by the government of the region and those universities are (Zakho, Soran, Garmian, Rapreen, Halabcha, Kurdistan University-Erbil, etc.).
